Zaza Italian Eatery in Fox Lake

Wish I could put no stars. Went there for dinner and had the shrimp and broccoli the shrimp was over cooked and had the texture of rubber and the broccoli was mushy, the soup tasted like water, and the salad was brown and wilted, about an hour after eating I went home and started to vomit and feel nauseous was sick for two days never will I go back there or ever recommend anybody else to go there, not only did I get sick the waitress over charged the bill by $80 and it took her 4 times to actually charge us the right price the owner knows everything that happened and he doesn't care to try and make things right it's a shame he treats his customers that way.

Very nice place, loved the ambiance and staff. Food was good... My husband had the special, chicken Bellagio, which he loved. I had the veal Oscar which was ok. The veal was good, but I'm used to having crab meat on top, not crab cakes that were rather fishy tasting. Overall, our experience was good and the wine selection was nice too.

Food had no flavor. Different spin on Oysters Rockefeller no flavor, then we put a little lemon on it and was better. Waitress sucked. I love when ppl ask you questions but they aren't listening. She didn't want our table she just wanted a tip and to be off work for her cocktail. Not worth a repeat.

What you can expect from any so called Italian restaurant in the fox lake area. Trashy,smelly, waitresses with cigarette breath etc... I mean if you are from around the area you wont mind, but if you are from out of town here's a rule of thumb there isn't anything good north of wauconda.

Very well kept and convenient restaurant. They provide generous meals and for fair prices. I liked the menu very much and the waiters were super affable and chatty. Will definitely recommend this place.

The food and service was great and we loved the atmosphere. It has a retro feel that is inviting that we loved. This is now our new go to place which we have been hunting for.

Really good food, probably a hidden gem in ingelside, a little overly butterly for my taste. Staff was great, ambiance was a little different because you can hear the bar music in the sitted restaurant.

Over priced mediocrity

ZaZa's does not disappoint! The food has remained consistent throughout all of the years I have been dining here. Bobby is a wonderful chef and the menu has a wide variety of Italian dishes. They also offer many specials - so you will never run out of something different to try! The soup and bread are off the charts delicious and the service is always superior!

This is a old time supper club, you get your bread then your soup then your salad then your meal, this place is fantastic we all ways have great food and great service

Had dinner here tonight. Had a good time with my girlfriend. Serves was nice, smiley, and made it a very pleasurable experience.I had the chicken parmesan amazing loved the red sauce.

We sat at the bar for over an hour to have order taken. The bartender had a server take the order. Than we got two checks one for drinks and one for food. The steaks were both ordered med and one was med well and the other well done. The salad was swimming in dressing, the vegetables tasted like fish, backed potato over done. Overall it was not a good experience. I wish they would have just told us they were only serving people with reservations. It was our anniversary and not a good first impression. I'm not sure we would ever try again. It was a special event and the restaurant should have been prepared or told us so.

I dined here this past weekend with my husband and everything was phenomenal from the service to the atmosphere to the food! Soup and salad come with any entree and wow is the soup delicious! So delicious, we asked the server and was told the chef makes them daily! Wow!I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the shrimp and broccoli over linguini - the shrimp was so fresh and a decent size. It's a family owned place and the owner bounces around the dining room to check on everyone. It was our first time here and we will definitely be back!

Service was SLOW! We started with the oysters Rockefeller: they were very disappointing, no flavor at all. Then we waited an eternity for everything else, I was so tired by the time the main course came, only had a few bites and had it boxed up. I had the veal marsala: pretty good, my husband had the stuffed shells: he really liked them. Prices were very reasonable. Not sure if we would go back, they need to have food come out without these large waits in between. Also, not a big fan of the jukebox going on during dining hours. You could hear the loud people at the bar.

An Italian steakhouse. Not a chain restaurant. Menu has plenty of options, of course it is Italian cuisine. Prices are moderate, but not overly expensive.

Saying this is Ingleside's best kept secret would be cutting it short. I would go as far as saying this is lake county's best kept secret. The ambiance is warm, old school, and romantic. Service is very personable. The food ... amazing.Traditional Italian dishes with portions that could easily feed two people. For dessert, had to try the tiramisu ... love that it was more sweet than tasting like coffee. You'll love it here!

Good authentic Italian food.

This place has changed for the worse. Had grilled calamari as an appetizer, it was awful (rubbery), salads were so so, and the main course zuppa di pesce and shrimp de frivola were incredibly disappointing. Marinara was just that, plain marinara. As we were the only ones in the dining area and halfway through our meal, the music was turned up to the point of not being able to carry on a conversation. When we politely expressed our disappointment to our waitress, it was obvious that management could not care less about what we thought. Very sad to have experienced this here and felt bad for our waitress. As it was clear to us she felt helpless to rectify our displeasure, we assured her this was not within her control and didn't penalize her for the fault of management .We've frequented this establishment several times a year, and it was always good food until tonight. We will not go back...

Good food, large portions. The atmosphere is like a throw back to the supper club Sinatra days. Comfortable place and friendly people.

The food here is amazing. The service is professional. However, you cannot go here if you are in a rush. The dishes are expertly prepared but take a bit of time to come to the table. It is worth the wait. One bit of confusion for my brain was when two songs were playing in the background. The waitress turned them off when she noticed. But then some country music started. Total mindblow for an Italian style restaraunt. Still, those are minor issues. Enjoy the great food.

All full...I had a Goupon coupon off the Web an they would not honor it.Wasn't happy with the food. Called CGoupon the next day an got my money back. Never going back

Friendly staff and really good food.

The food wasn't bad but for the price I would expect better than Olive Garden. The waitress was rude and unhelpful. Large menu options but we were the only table in there so I wonder how long the seafood is kept before someone actually orders it.

Food was alright. Service was awful. Good 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Place was almost empty. Another table walked out because they werent served. An hour and a half before we got our salads (basically 2 lettuce leaves and a cucumber). Ordered more bread, never got it. Ordered another wine, never got it. Had to ask again 15 minutes later. We have been here for a little over 2.5 hours now. I mean...maybe the food is being flown fresh from Italy??? 🤣🤣🤣ETA: Our server was Mary. We were there for 3 HOURS!!!! Beyond ridiculous...

Waited 40 mins for a pick up order. Not happy at all

Terrible place. Owner doesn't care that he gives out bad food that gives you food poisoning. Our family went for a birthday party and we spent the last few days throwing up and sick from the shrimp scampi. Tried to tell the owner and he told us nope it wasn't my food you all got sick from somewhere else. We all live in 3 different house holds and ate the exact same thing. Owner doesn't care about his customers we spent over 100 hundred dollars ridiculous will never reccomend. Now I know why there are never cars in the parking lot.

Great food, portions can be absolutely huge! The prices seem high, but it' s worth the quantity and quality in my opinion.

Don't go here. I want to keep this gem a secret. The owner may ask how your dinner was. But he's not sincere. The waitstaff will ask if you need anything, and are helpful in any way possible. But they don't really mean it. The bus staff is continually buzzing around, ready to clear your dishes of fill your water, or fetch the server if your drink is low. But... You know, they are just acting. I almost forgot to mention that if you want something that is not on the extensive menu, just ask. You'll probably get it. But that's just the chef showing off.
